The Red Devils appointed Mourinho as Louis van Gaal’s successor last summer but the Portuguese coach was unable to steer the club back into the top four.
Manchester United still managed to qualify for the Champions League after a 2-0 win against Ajax in the Europa League final in May.
Mourinho also won the Community Shield and the EFL Cup in his first season in charge at Old Trafford to end the 2016-17 campaign on a positive note.
The Manchester United boss signed Sweden defender Victor Lindelof in a £30.7m deal from Portuguese champions Benfica last month.
And the Red Devils snapped up top Premier League striker Romelu Lukaku in a £75m deal from Everton earlier this week despite the Belgian star being heavily linked with a move to Chelsea.
Speaking to ESPN about Manchester United’s ambitions under Mourinho next season, former striker Yorke outlined what the Red Devils boss will be thinking.
“I’m sure Mourinho wants to push for the Premier League in his second term,” Yorke said.
