Chelsea are “struggling” to convince Renato Sanches to join them on loan from Bayern Munich this summer, according to reports in the British media.

The Evening Standard is claiming that the Blues have not yet been successful in convincing the Portuguese teenager to sign for them on a temporary deal this summer.

The report claims that the 19-year-old Sanches is concerned about how much first-team action he would get at Stamford Bridge next season were he to sign for the Premier League champions.

It is also claimed that Bayern Munich are having second thoughts about allowing Sanches to leave the club this summer on a temporary deal.

The same report states that Chelsea have therefore begun to explore other options this summer, with the Blues said to be “desperately” looking to add another midfielder to their squad following the sale of Nemanja Matic to Manchester United on Monday.

Chelsea have signed four players so far this summer – Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata – but are thought to be on the lookout for further reinforcements ahead of next season.
