The Reds are set to learn their opponents when the draw takes place in Nyon in Switzerland on Friday as Jurgen Klopp looks to steer his Liverpool side into the group stage of Europe’s elite club competition.
Liverpool could face Nice, Hoffeinheim, Steaua Bucharest, Young Boys or Istanbul BB in the crunch play-off clash as they look to secure their progress.
And former Reds star Ince believes that Liverpool would be keen to avoid the French and German sides in the crucial qualifier clash.
Speaking on ITV4 on Wednesday evening, Ince said: “They’d want to avoid Nice. I saw them play a couple of times last season. They’re very good.
“Hoffenheim have been fantastic in the Bundesliga. They’d take one of the other three teams.”
Liverpool are currently gearing up for their second full season under Klopp following his appointment as Brendan Rodgers’ successor back in October 2015.
The Reds looked like they could challenge for the Premier League title last season but eventually fell off the pace as they ended up in fourth place in the table.
Klopp has brought in Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke so far this summer as he prepares his team for the new season.
