The Merseyside outfit have endured a largely frustrating summer transfer window so far after appearing to miss out on their top two targets.
RB Leipzig have ruled out Guinea international Naby Keita leaving the Bundesliga runners-up ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.
Liverpool have also been linked with Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk but the Saints are adamant that the Netherlands international is not for sale.
The Reds signed former Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah in a £39m deal last month to bolster their options on the wing following Sadio Mane’s impressive debut season last term.
The 18-time English champions have also signed England Under-20 international Dominic Solanke and Hull City left-back Andy Robertson this summer.
However, former Liverpool defender Carragher wants to see Klopp bring in some more new signings to improve his squad depth ahead of a return to the Champions League.
“To be honest, I think we were all hoping that we would have been a lot happier at the stage. However, you’ve got to have patience,” Carragher told 5times as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
“I’m sure the club are working 24/7 behind the scenes to bring players in, not only to keep the supporters happy, but to strengthen the squad for the big season ahead.
“I mentioned a lot last season that our squad isn’t strong enough. Despite the first XI being very good, with Champions League football coming up the squad needs a few more additions and these numbers are yet to come in.”
Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season to book their spot in the Champions League.
