Manchester United are “confident” that Ivan Perisic wants to sign for them this season as long as they agree a deal with Inter Milan, according to reports.

ESPN is reporting that the Red Devils believe that the 28-year-old Croatian winger does indeed want to sign for the Old Trafford club this summer.

The same article says that the main stumbling block in a deal is Inter Milan’s asking price of £48m, with Manchester United said to be unwilling to pay that much.

It is also claimed that Inter have enquired about the possibility of signing Anthony Martial on loan as part of the deal for Perisic to head to Old Trafford.

The story, however, says that Manchester United have rejected Inter Milan’s enquiries about Martial as the two teams struggle to come to an agreement about Perisic.

That being said, the story also says that Manchester United consider Perisic to still be their top target this summer after having been given no encouragement from Real Madrid that Gareth Bale is for sale.

Manchester United are preparing for a return to the Champions League next season after the Red Devils won the Europa League last term.
