Jesper Blomqvist has reassured Manchester United supporters that Victor Lindelof will prove to be a good signing.

The Sweden international completed a £30.7m move to Manchester United from Portuguese champions Benfica to become the club’s first summer signing.

Lindelof has been regularly linked with a move to Old Trafford and finally completed a big-money move to Old Trafford in June.

However, the new Manchester United number two has endured a shaky start to life at the 20-time English champions.

Lindelof made a mistake in Manchester United’s 5-2 victory over LA Galaxy in their opening pre-season friendly last month.

The 23-year-old centre-half conceded a penalty in the second half of Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with La Liga giants Real Madrid in Santa Clara.

Some Manchester United fans have questioned Lindelof’s singing given his erratic performances in pre season.

However, former Sweden international Blomqvist is confident that Lindelof will prove a great addition to Jose Mourinho’s team.

“I obviously think Victor Lindelof is a great signing – he’s Swedish!” Blomqvist told BT Sport.

“It is going to be tough for him in the first year. But he has all the attributes.

“He can play out from the back and is also good in a one-on-one situation.”

Manchester United finish in sixth place in the Premier League table last season.

The Red Devils won the EFL Cup and the Europa League in their first season under Jose Mourinho.
