Paul Ince is confident that Victor Lindelof will prove a good Manchester United signing.

The Benfica defender completed a move to Manchester United in a £30.7m deal from Portuguese champions Benfica in the summer transfer window.

Lindelof was regularly linked with a switch to Old Trafford since Jose Mourinho took over the reins at the Europa League winners back in 2016.

However, the 23-year-old has made a nervous start to life as a Manchester United player following mistakes against LA Galaxy and Real Madrid in pre-season.

Lindelof struggled in Manchester United’s 2-1 loss to Champions League holders Real Madrid in the Uefa Cup Super final last week.

But former Manchester United midfielder Ince is confident that Lindelof will settle at the Red Devils and blossom into an important member of Mourinho’s team.

“Victor Lindelof still has a lot to learn,” Ince wrote in his Paddy Power column.

“There’ve been a couple of games I’ve watched he’s dived in. It takes time, I know that from experience of going to United at a young age. You’ve got to understand what the club is all about.

“Once he gets into that, and comfortable with the surroundings – and the magnitude of what’s expected of him – he’ll be a good signing.”

Manchester United have also signed Everton striker Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic in the summer transfer window so far.

The Red Devils finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last term but won the EFL Cup and the Europa League.

The 20-time English champions will be looking to win their first Premier League crown since Sir Alex Ferguson stood down as manager in 2013.
