The Germany international has endured a difficult start to the season following disappointing performances in losses at Stoke City and Liverpool.
Ozil received the brunt of the criticism following Arsenal’s 4-0 humiliation at the hands of their title rivals as Liverpool outfought their opponents.
The 28-year-old has refused to sign a contract extension with the north London club despite allowing his current deal to enter into its final 12 months.
Unlike his team-mate Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ozil hasn’t attracted any interest from top clubs despite being available for free next summer.
Ozil arrived at Real Madrid in a £42.5m deal in 2013 but the Germany international has been unable to fire Arsenal to a first Premier League title since 2004.
Former Arsenal striker Wright suggested that Wenger needs to get the best out of Ozil by providing the German midfielder with plenty of willing runners in the first-team.
Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live:
“If we can’t get him to work back which I don’t think is natural in his game, which isn’t natural in his game, we have to get him going forward with even more potency.
“That might mean we have to play players who do all the running for him and get him the ball to allow him to create.”
Ozil has won three FA Cups in four seasons since moving to The Emirates but hasn’t come close to securing Premier League title glory.
