Frank Lampard believes Eden Hazard will help to bring out the best in Chelsea signing Alvaro Morata.

The Spain international has made an impressive start to life at the defending Premier League champions following his £58m summer move to Stamford Bridge.

The Chelsea striker opened his account with a consolation goal in their 3-2 loss to Burnley on the opening weekend of the 2017-18 Premier League season.

The 24-year-old was on the score sheet again in a 2-0 victory over Everton before Morata scored in successive games thanks to his effort in a 2-1 win against Leicester City.

Morata hasn’t enjoyed the luxury of playing alongside Hazard in the Premier League save for the final 12 minutes at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Belgium international made his return from a broken ankle in Chelsea’s victory over the 2016 champions after missing their opening three Premier League games.

Chelsea legend Lampard believes Hazard can help Morata to produce even more devastating performances for the west London side given the Belgian’s invention.

“Alvaro has already proven a few people here wrong who were questioning whether he could cope with the combative game in this country,” Lampard told the Evening Standard.

“At Leicester he went up against two of the most physical centre-halves in the League and came out with a goal and good performance. I think he can handle anything. Plus we haven’t seen him really link up with Eden Hazard yet.

“Great strikers feed off great players, so he will definitely get the chances he craves – it will be about sticking them away. I was happy when Chelsea signed him. He has big shoes to fill because Costa was a huge personality in the dressing room and a key player.”

Chelsea won the Premier League title with two games to spare last season after finishing seven points above Tottenham Hotspur.

The Blues signed seven players in the summer transfer window in an attempt to bolster their squad depth.
