Philippe Coutinho looked to be in good spirits as he joked with Alberto Moreno in training at Liverpool’s base at Melwood on Thursday.

The Brazilian playmaker’s name has not been far from the headlines this season after he was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.

Coutinho is thought to have been keen on a move to Camp Nou and is said to have handed in a transfer request to try and force through a move.

However, a switch failed to materialise as Liverpool refused to do business with the Spanish club and instead opted to keep hold of the 25-year-old.

Coutinho could be in line to make his first Liverpool appearance of the season when the Reds take on Manchester City at The Etihad on Saturday.

And the playmaker certainly looked to be in good spirits as he trained with his team-mates at Melwood on Thursday morning.

Here are some of the best pictures of Coutinho in action for the Reds at Melwood.
