The Brazilian’s situation on Merseyside has been a relentless source of debate in recent weeks after he was heavily linked with a transfer to Barcelona in the summer window.
Coutinho handed in a transfer request in a bid to force through a move to Camp Nou but Liverpool refused to sell their prized asset to the Spanish club.
The playmaker is now back training for Liverpool and it remains to be seen when he will make his return to the line-up for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
However, former Liverpool star Heskey believes that the emergence of Mane up front has helped to relieve some of the pressure on Coutinho at Anfield.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Heskey said: “Mane has stepped up to the plate. “It’s nice to see that it’s not just Coutinho or one player, wanting to be the main focus.”
Liverpool are currently preparing for their Champions League opener group stage against Sevilla at Anfield on Wednesday night.
The Reds will then return to Premier League action with a home clash against Burnley on Saturday as they bid to get back to winning ways in the top flight following their 5-0 thrashing by Manchester City last weekend.
