Sadio Mane has taken to Instagram to apologise to Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson following their nasty collision during Liverpool’s 5-0 defeat at The Etihad.

The Senegal international was sent off in the first half following Sergio Aguero’s opening goal to leave the Reds with 10 men for the remaining 52 minutes.

Mane received a straight red card after his high tackle caught Manchester City shot stopper Ederson in the face following Joel Matip’s lofted pass.

The former Benfica goalkeeper was forced off due to the challenge as Claudio Bravo was drafted in to replace the summer signing.

Leroy Sane and Jesus Gabriel both scored two goals apiece to polish off a comfortable victory over the Merseyside outfit.

While Mane appeared to be surprised with his sending off in the first half at The Etihad, the African forward showed his professionalism with a compassionate message on Instagram.

The Premier League player of the month for August sent a message to Manchester City rival Ederson apologising for his ill-timed challenge.

Mane posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:

“I hope and wish Ederson a quick recovery.

“I am so sorry he was hurt during our accidental collision on the pitch and am sorry for him that he could not complete the match because of it. I pray he heals fast and is back playing very soon!”

Mane scored three times in Liverpool’s opening three games against Watford, Crystal Palace and Arsenal.
