Newly-crowned champions of Europe Bayern Munich will play Europa League winners Chelsea in the Uefa Super Cup at the Eden Arena in Prague on 30 August.

However, both of the coaches who guided their respective clubs to glory will have moved on by then.

Jupp Heynckes, who added the Champions League to the Bundesliga with Bayern, is set to retire and will be replaced by Pep Guardiola. Rafael Benítez, interim manager when Chelsea lifted the Europa League, is poised to pen a two-year contract with Napoli and his successor, although yet to be made official, is likely to be José Mourinho.

So two old foes look set to come face-to-face once again.

The clash will mark the renewal of a stormy rivalry which was played out during two fiercely-fought campaigns in La Liga and in European football’s blue ribbon club competition when Guardiola and Mourinho were at the helm at Barça and Madrid respectively.

The last meeting between the two coaches was on 22 April 2012, when Madrid ran out 2-1 winners – a result which left them with a free run to the league title.

Demba Ba believes he could form a successful strike partnership with his Chelsea team-mate Fernando Torres next season.

The Senegal international was signed by Rafael Benítez in the January transfer window but struggled to usurp Torres in the Chelsea first-team.

Real Madrid manager José Mourinho is expected to seal a return to Stamford Bridge in the coming weeks after Los Blancos confirmed his imminent departure, leaving Ba with a fresh opportunity to stake a claim for a starting spot at the west London side.

“We could do [form a partnership]. He [Torres] is a good man,” Ba said.

“We will have to see the view of the manager who is going to come in. We will have to see what he will bring to the team and if he can play two strikers, how he wants it.

“But we are not rivals, no chance. You learn a lot from having competition with players like this – it’s good for me. I’m getting better and better.”

Ba has scored 42 goals in 93 appearances in the Premier League during spells with Chelsea, Newcastle and West Ham United.

Frank Lampard believes captain John Terry wants to sign a new deal to extend his stay at Chelsea.

The 34-year-old, who became Chelsea’s record goal-scorer in May, penned a new one-year deal earlier this week to end speculation surrounding the midfielder’s future.

Terry’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the 2013-14 campaign, and Lampard reckons the defender would be happy to commit to a new deal with the newly-crowned Europa League champions.

“I know JT will want to stay, he’s said he’d love to stay at Chelsea. He feels the same as me,” Lampard told the Sun.

“Why play anywhere else when you love the club you’re at? JT’s the captain of the club and does a brilliant job.

“At the start of next season, I think that’s when the club will take a view on it. I know what my view would be.”

Terry has been limited to 27 appearances for Chelsea this season with the centre-half out-of-favour under former interim manager Rafael Benitez.

Petr Cech says José Mourinho will take charge of a Chelsea squad full of hunger to win trophies.

The 50-year-old is expected to seal a return to the Blues in the coming weeks after Real Madrid confirmed their manager will leave at the end of the season.

Mourinho won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and two League Cups during his first spell at Stamford Bridge before leaving the west London club in 2007.

And although Cech, who was signed by Mourinho’s predecessor Claudio Ranieri, says the Blues have changed since the Portuguese coach was last in the hot seat, the shot-stopper insists there is still a burning desire to win.

“I think the club has changed since he left,” Cech told Sky Sport. “It’s been six years and the club has changed through the years.

“But he knows the club, he knows the environment, he knows English football and the Premier League. I think this is a big advantage.

“He might find a slightly different club than when he was leaving, but he will still find a club full of ambition and expectation and hunger to win
trophies. This is the most important thing.

“I came to the club at the same time he did and he had confidence in me to put me in goal ahead of Carlo Cudicini.

“Since then, we won so many trophies. Although he left in 2007, I think everybody around the club and the supporters still remembers him with high regard.”

Demba Ba admits he is excited by the prospect of José Mourinho returning to Chelsea this summer.

The path was cleared for the Portuguese coach to return to Stamford Bridge this summer after Real Madrid confirmed that the 50-year-old will be leaving the Bernabéu in June after three years in charge.

Mourinho, who led the Blues to six trophies between 2004 and 2007, is the overwhelming favourite to take the reins from interim boss Rafael Benítez in west London.

And striker Ba believes Mourinho’s winning mentality makes him the right man to take charge at the club.

“You see what he has won, what he has brought to his teams and to his players individually, and of course he is one of the best,” Ba told Sky Sports.

“He knows everything about Chelsea having already managed the team for three or four years. He knows everybody here and he knows the club.

“Everybody is thinking about it and everybody is happy. They know that he is a person that wants to win.”

Fabio Coentrao has opened the door to a possible move to Chelsea this summer after confirming that he is keen to quit Real Madrid.

The left-back has been limited to just 16 La Liga starts for Los Blancos this season and admits that he has not felt “wanted” since moving to the Bernabéu from Benfica back in 2011.

With Madrid boss José Mourinho looking increasingly likely to take over at Chelsea this summer after his departure from the Spanish club was confirmed earlier this week, Coentrao could follow his compatriot to Stamford Bridge.

And the 25-year-old Portugal international says he is keen to find a “solution” to his situation in the Spanish capital.

“From the first day I do not think I was wanted here,” said Coentrao. “Today it seems that everyone wants me to leave the club. I do not know what I have done wrong.

“We must find a solution that is good for both the club and myself, so that no one will lose out.

“When I leave, I do not close the door to anyone.”

The Europa League winners will earn a place in the following season’s Champions League from 2015 onwards, Uefa has confirmed.

The decision, designed to raise the profile and boost interest in Europe’s second tier club competition, was made at Uefa’s Congress in London following months of discussions.

“I am convinced that these new changes will help to further boost the Europa League,” said European Club Association (ECA) chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

“ECA’s input in the decision-making process was important and always welcomed by Uefa. It is another example of the strong collaboration between the two organisations.

“The Europa League is a very good competition and will continue to develop and grow in the future.”

Uefa president Michel Platini said that the decision will further improve the importance of the competition, which was won by Chelsea this season.

“As was proven with this year’s magnificent final, the Europa League has gone from strength to strength, but we wanted to give clubs a further incentive, so that all of them play with a desire to win the competition,” Platini said.

“By guaranteeing access to the Champions League for the winners, we are convinced that the Europa League will increase its appeal for clubs and their supporters.”

It was also confirmed that Berlin’s Olympic Stadium will host the Champions League final in 2015, while that year’s Europa League final will be held at Warsaw’s National Stadium.

Marco Materazzi has admitted he would love to be José Mourinho’s number two at Chelsea if his former Inter Milan boss seals a return to the Blues.

Real Madrid confirmed the 50-year-old will leave the Spanish capital at the end of the season after months of speculation surrounding the Portuguese coach’s future.

Materazzi, 39, who spent a season at Everton in 1998-99, won the Serie A title, Coppa Italia and Champions League under Mourinho at Inter Milan in 2010.

The Italian retired from football two seasons ago but would love to be reunited with the former Nerazzurri manager, who is expected to be named Chelsea boss in the coming weeks, in a coaching capacity.

“I’d love to [be his assistant], it’d be a dream. In fact, you could call it an objective. I’d be working with the number one, so what could be better?” Materazzi said.

“Anyone who speaks ill of Mourinho just does it because of envy. I really liked his style of management, as he made us work a lot with the ball because he knows this sport is football.

“He always seeks success, as well as being an honest man. Honesty is one of the principle values in life, so why shouldn’t it be in sport?”

Romelu Lukaku has admitted he would be interested in a switch to Borussia Dortmund if Chelsea send the striker out on loan again next season.

The Belgium international was a big hit at West Bromwich Albion this term, scoring 17 goals in 35 Premier League appearances during his season-long loan spell.

The Baggies and West Ham United have already expressed an interest in securing his services for the 2013-14 campaign, but Lukaku appears to have his eyes set on a move to the Bundesliga.

“I’ll start the season with Chelsea then I will speak with the management to discuss the best choice. I am a realist,” Lukaku told the Sun.

“I still need to grow and for that I need to have time to play during the next season. Dortmund would be a good choice.”

The 20-year-old has only made eight Premier League appearances for Chelsea after completing an initial £10m switch to Stamford Bridge from Anderlecht in August 2011.

On Wednesday, West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan admitted it would be a dream to partner the Chelsea forward with Andy Carroll next season.

“Lukaku would be a loan again. We’d maybe buy him a year later if Chelsea decide they don’t want him,” Sullivan told the Daily Mirror.

“If we sign Andy, it would be a record signing for the club. He and Romelu would be devastating. The best strike-force outside of the top six or seven.

“Lukaku has been amazing for West Brom this season and I’d hope that he would prefer to live in London.”
