The 30-year-old’s future has been called into question as the Reds continue to be linked with a move for Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

However, in an interview with Spanish newspaper AS, the Spain international insists that he does not intend to quit Anfield.

Asked if he would like to play at the Camp Nou, Reina joked: “Right now, with Liverpool, it’s going to be difficult as we’re not in the Champions League and so if it’s not in a friendly, it will be quite difficult.

But when asked again about his future, he insisted: “It’s quite clear – I am under contract with Liverpool and right now, there are not going to be any changes.”

Reina has three years left to run on his current Liverpool deal.

Andy Carroll has revealed his delight at finally securing a permanent transfer to West Ham United from Liverpool on a six-year contract.

The fee has not been disclosed but it is believed to be in the region of £16m – and West Ham have confirmed that the transfer is a club-record deal.

Carroll, who was signed by Liverpool from Newcastle for £35m in 2011, spent the 2012-13 season on loan to the Hammers and scored seven goals in 24 games for Sam Allardyce’s men as they secured a 10th-place finish on their return to the Premier League.

“It’s fantastic for me to be here. I really enjoyed last season, and that shows in me coming back and making it permanent,” Carroll told West Ham’s website.

“The fans, the lads and the club itself has been great to me, and what I wanted to do was come back here and play football.

“Since the end of the season I’ve had a lot of time to think, I’ve missed it and that’s why I’m back. Getting promoted the season before last, then finishing where we did – we did great, and it can only get better for us.

“The way the club’s being run, obviously getting the new stadium and everything like that, it’s only going up.”

The east London club also have the option to extend the 24-year-old’s contract by a further two years.

West Ham described Carroll’s capture as a “marquee signing” and a “significant step” for the club as they prepare to move to the 54,000-seat Olympic Stadium in 2016.

The Gateshead-born striker, who scored 31 times in 81 games for Newcastle, is hoping to add to his nine England caps ahead of next summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

Jamie Carragher says Brendan Rodgers is planning to get Liverpool’s transfer business concluded as early as possible this summer.

The Reds are set to offload striker Andy Carroll to West Ham United for around £15m and have already agreed a deal to sign Iago Aspas for £7.6m from Celta Vigo – after snapping up Kolo Touré on a free transfer.

And Carragher, who retired from football at the end of last season, insists that the Reds are moving to get deals done “as quickly as possible” as they look to build a squad capable of breaking back into the top four.

“I’m sure Brendan Rodgers has learnt a lot over the last 12 months and I think he’s raring to go this season,” Carragher told Sky Sports.

“I spoke to him at the end of the season and he wants to get his business done early.

“At the moment it looks like Liverpool are trying to get players in as quickly as possible so they are ready for the start of the season.”

When Andy Carroll calls time on his brief Liverpool spell, the striker should head for Upton Park with no regrets from his Anfield career.

The England international is on the brink of a £15m switch to West Ham United after agreeing a reported six-year deal and passing a medical on Tuesday night.

It leaves Liverpool facing a £20m loss on a striker who produced just six Premier League goals (at a cost of roughly £5,830,000 per strike) following a club-record £35m move to Liverpool from Newcastle United in January 2011.

It certainly makes for uncomfortable reading – particularly if you’re Kenny Dalglish, Fenway Sports Group or a Liverpool supporter – but whilst Carroll failed to set Anfield alight, he was never given a fair crack at carving out a successful career on Merseyside.

Carroll is not to blame for Newcastle United’s decision to cash-in on their prized asset and Liverpool’s willingness to break their transfer record on a striker, who, apart from his age, didn’t fit the FSG vision for the club.

The 24-year-old arrived with youthful enthusiasm and set his sights on becoming a regular goal-scorer for the Reds, as he had been for the Magpies before his boyhood club decided to sell their gigantic forward to raise funds for new players.

“It was a lot of money but I need to do what I have to do to prove the money was worth it,” Carroll said at a news conference when he was unveiled in 2011. “I am here to score goals and create chances for the team and that is what I can do.”

But whilst Newcastle (under Chris Hughton and Alan Pardew) were willing to play to Carroll’s strengths, resulting in 11 goals in 19 top-flight appearances in his Premier League campaign – including a brace against Roy Hodgson’s Reds, his new employers were determined to go back to the club’s roots.

Liverpool’s ethos has always been pass-and-move, originating from the days of Bill Shankly and Bob Paisely, and the 18-time English champions were seeking to move on from Roy Hodgson’s “negative tactics”, with his replacement, Dalglish, famed for his elegant sides of the late 1980s which earned comparisons to Brazil.

And the signs were ominous for Carroll when the interim manager vowed the club wouldn’t change its “principles and philosophies” to accommodate their record signing, despite being well aware of the striker’s strengths and weaknesses.

“[Andy's] just a young boy with a great talent,” Dalglish said on 3 February 2011. “He’s a big lad but is very good on the deck as well, he has good feet, he’s very strong in the air and he’ll give us a bit of presence up front. He’s a little bit different to what we’ve been used to but it won’t change our principles and philosophies of how we want to play.”

It was a relationship doomed from the start.

Whilst Carroll had received praise for his ability to lead Newcastle’s front-line, using his physical attributes to out-muscle opposition defenders, he wasn’t renowned for his “good feet”, despite possessing a lethal left-footed finish.

After a slow start, Carroll scored a memorable brace against title-chasing Manchester City at Anfield but it proved to be nothing more than a false dawn and a rare highlight during his blighted two-and-a-half year stint at Liverpool.

It wasn’t long before the striker’s uninspiring goal record was being called into question, with Carroll and Luis Suárez struggling to strike up a partnership. The concept of “little and large” may have worked in the 1990s, but it is now out of fashion. Gone are the days of John Toshack and Ian St John, certainly for a club of Liverpool’s stature.

The Uruguay international’s style of play focuses on intricate interplay with his team-mates, and Carroll lacked the subtly to thrive alongside the Real Madrid target, and as a result, more often than not, found himself on the bench.

He managed to make just 26 Premier League starts in 44 top-flight games, with the Gateshead-born striker limited to an impact role from the bench, which rarely proved productive, aside from his performance in a 2-1 loss to Chelsea in the 2011 FA Cup semi-final.

Dalglish’s departure in May 2012 appeared to signal a fresh start and a chance for Carroll to impress the new manager. But the striker must have baulked when the Reds appointed Brendan Rodgers as the Scot’s successor at Anfield.

The Northern Irishman’s Swansea City side took the Premier League by storm with their attractive football in 2011-12 and were nicknamed Wales’ Barcelona – the Catalans had discarded Zlatan Ibrahimovic a season earlier and the giant Swede had genuine “good feet”.

Inevitably, Carroll and Rodgers was a marriage that was never going to work, with the Reds boss showing his preference for nimble forwards such as Fabio Borini, Philippe Coutinho, Daniel Sturridge and current target Luis Alberto.

The Three Lions striker doesn’t fit that description, and having sent the former Newcastle man on a season-long loan at West Ham, it’s no surprise Liverpool have decided to offload the striker.

Carroll’s £35m transfer will almost certainly go down as one of the biggest flops in Premier League history, ironically, alongside his predecessor in the Liverpool number nine shirt, £50m forward Fernando Torres.

But little blame can be attributed to Carroll, who, despite his lack of goals, was not at fault for an extravagant fee and Liverpool’s decision to invest in a striker who clearly wasn’t a piece that fit in the Anfield jigsaw.

The 24-year-old striker is set to pen a reported six-year deal with the Hammers, worth “£15.5m plus £2m extras” – and end a miserable two-and-half year spell as Reds player.

Carroll scored seven goals in 21 top-flight appearances for the Hammers last term after joining the east London outfit on a season-long loan from Liverpool in August.

And Hammers joint-chairman Gold, who has spoken of his desire to partner Carroll with Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku, revealed the England international has successfully completed a medical on Tuesday evening.

Sevilla director of football Ramon Verdejo says the La Liga side are yet to accept an offer for Luis Alberto following a bid from Liverpool.

The Reds were reported to have submitted a £6m offer for the 20-year-old forward as Brendan Rodgers looks to strengthen his side in a bid to secure a top-four finish next season.

The Spain Under-21 international impressed during a season-long loan at Barcelona B last term, with the winger scoring 11 goals and making 17 assists in 37 appearances.

But Verdejo indicated Sevilla were holding out for a bigger offer as Liverpool look to make Alberto their third summer signing following Kolo Touré’s arrival and agreeing a deal for Iago Aspas in priciniple.

“Is it a good deal to sell him for the figures they speak of? The offer we have on the table is a very good one with respect to where Luis is currently,” Verdejo said.

“We don’t know what will happen in the future. To date, we haven’t accepted the offer.”

On Saturday, Alberto’s agent confirmed Liverpool were interested in signing the Sevilla striker amid speculation Luis Suárez could leave Anfield for Real Madrid.

“The reports about Liverpool’s interest are true, they are very interested,” he told the Spanish media.

Luis Suárez insists that there have been not yet been any official bids for the want-away Liverpool striker.

The 26-year-old’s future has become a source of relentless speculation since he declared his desire to leave Anfield after the end of the season.

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have been touted as possible destinations for the Uruguay forward, who drew level with Diego Forlán as his country’s all-time leading goal-scorer on Sunday.

However, the player himself insists that neither he or Liverpool have been approached by any clubs, describing the speculation about his future as “just rumours”.

“No-one has spoken with me or with Liverpool,” said Suárez.

“I’m here to defend my country. The press have spoken a lot about my future but there is nothing concrete, it’s all just rumours.”

Suárez scored Uruguay’s only goal in the 2-1 Confederations Cup defeat by Spain in Recife on Sunday.

Paul Ince says it would take a “ridiculous offer” to lure his son Thomas away from Blackpool amid reported Liverpool and Manchester United interest.

The 21-year-old forward has impressed for the Tangerines over the course of the season, scoring 18 goals in 44 Championship appearances.

The England Under-21 international, who joined Blackpool from Liverpool in 2011, won the Football League young player of the year award for his eye-catching displays this term.

Ince senior, who is currently Blackpool boss, wants to keep the former Reds youth graduate as he plots the club’s bid to secure promotion to the Premier League.

“We knew there would be a lot of interest in Thomas and that’s proving to be the case,” Ince told the Blackpool Gazette.

“But speaking to him, he will be happy to come and play here again. I’m not saying he doesn’t want to go and play in the Premier League because I know one day he will.

“If we can keep him for the next 12 months, then it will save us from looking elsewhere.

“We’d like to keep him but if someone makes a ridiculous offer we’ll have to look at it. Fingers crossed he’ll be here again next year.”
