Milan hopeful over Beckham stay

By Marco Selci

AC Milan vice president, Adriano Galliani, has made it clear that he’s hoping David Beckham will fall in love with his club and extend his stay in Italy.

Galliani latest remarks contradict his previous statements that Beckham will only stay for 3 months on loan and that Milan have no plans for him after this:

“I want to make clear that the club does not have any future projects for him [Beckham]. All we know is that he will come to Dubai [the winter break] and then he will return to Galaxy in March, besides that nothing else.” – 19th November, 2008

The former England captain is under contract with LA Galaxy until 2012, and is expected to return to the United States in March for the start of the Major League Soccer season. Beckham also has ‘frightening’ advertisement contracts that are holding him back from a potential permanent move to the San Siro.

Nonetheless, Galliani is optimistic that Beckham will develop a love for Milan and decide to stay – as he told Sky Italia:

“I don’t know how long his adventure [with AC Milan] will last, but for the time being it will be two-and-a-half to three months. We hope he will fall in love and that sentiments prevail, but he has so many advertising contracts and they are scary.”

The world-renowned midfielder will join the Rossoneri on the 20th December where he will undergo a medical and will start his new adventure with Milan, training in Dubai for the winter break.
