Kaka to stay on at AC Milan

By Marco Selci

Over heated and agonisingly long discussions carried out over the past few days, Manchester City have terminated transfer talks for the former world player of the year, who was heavily linked with a £100m move to their club.

Prime Minister of Italy and AC Milan President, Silvio Berlusconi, confirmed the news that Kaka will stay with the Rossineri live on Italian TV channel, Italia 7. And in an interview with Sky Sport 24 shortly afterwards Berlusconi also added:

“That’s the end of the story. I am truly delighted to have kept Kaka at Milan. Kaka is a great champion and a great man. He’s refused the offer from Manchester City giving privilege to Milan, his companions and his fans.”

After talks failed, Manchester City stated on their website that there was now very little chance of the headline-grabbing transfer going through. But in the wake of the realisation, City have also come to terms with the fact that it takes more than just one man to make a difference in football, as Manchester City’s executive chairman, Garry Cook, had said:

“Whilst Manchester City Football Club has an obvious interest in world-class players of the quality of Kaka, we owe it to our fans that such a transfer must work on every level; commercially, financially, in terms of results on the field and within Manchester City’s broader community.”

Throughout the closing of the curtain to this distressing affair, Kaka was reported to have approached the window of his house and point at his heart in an effort to reach out to his fans and reassure them that he will remain with Milan.
