Next season’s Premier League ball revealed

With the new Premier League season just over a month away, Nike have revealed the new football that will be used at grounds up and down the country.

Described as the ‘peak of innovation’, the ‘T90 Ascente’ has been two years in the making and claims to be the fastest, most accurate football ever made.

It was tested at top-level club’s training grounds last season, with player feedback helping to shape the final product.

“The feedback we have got from testing it at our elite level clubs is it’s ‘best ball they’ve ever played with’,” explains Rafael Ortega, Nike’s global product manager.

New graphics featured on the ball have been designed to create a ‘flicker’ effect, supposedly making it more visible in in players’ peripheral vision and therefore reducing reaction times.

And a new ‘micro-textured’ surface is said to increase accuracy following extensive research, including the use of using wind tunnels.

The ball will be used in the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A, although each country’s ball will have a differently coloured design.
