Steven Gerrard has spoken of his desire to once more bring ‘Big Ears’ back to Anfield as well as guiding England to glory in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Speaking to, he reiterated his love for Liverpool and his yearnings to once again experience the sensation of holding Europe’s most prestigious cup aloft.

“People could see my reaction when I lifted that trophy in 2005, how much it means to me, my team-mates and the supporters. That was the best night of my career and I want to match it and experience that success again.”

He also hopes under Fabio Capello, England can go past the quarter finals of a major international competition. Under former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson England fell at the last 8 stage in three consecutive tournaments (Brazil 2002 and Portugal 2004, 2006).

“And it would be really nice to go to a tournament with England and to be successful, so that means the World Cup next summer for me.”

He went on to say: “I want to go one better than a quarter-final, which is the farthest so far that I have gone in a tournament.”

Of course ending Liverpool 19 year wait for the Premiership trophy remain one of Gerrard’s top priorities.

“I still have many more dreams, and that means winning the Premier League because that is the only medal that is missing from my own personal collection.”

Liverpool’s talismanic captain also spoke about his plans after his contract runs out in 2013. He has turned his thoughts to maintaining a role in football in some capacity, whether it be as a coach or within the media.

“It would be nice to stay involved in the game. I’m not sure at what level as either a manager or a coach or even going into the media. I want to stay involved because football is so important to me.”

So Liverpool and England fans alike will be hoping Steven Gerrard fulfills some of his aims for the upcoming season and has a successfull 2009-10 campaign.
