According to reports in Spanish newspaper Marca, Manchester City are once again chasing the signature of Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

The 22-year-old Argentina winger is understood to be in talks with with Barca over a new deal at the Camp Nou, but City have not given up in their chase of the player.

Despite not making a formal offer, Marca have reported that they understand Manchester City officials have approached Messi’s agent to declare their interest and are willing to let the player ‘name his price’ for his services.

Messi previously turned down an approach from City during the January transfer, when the Club offered Barcelona €150 million for the star and the player €12 million per year.

Most would expect the Barca star to turn down City’s second approach, however should the Manchester club secure a top-four finish in the Premier League this season, with the prospect of Champions League football and seemingly unlimited resources, the club’s offers may become too good to turn down.
