Mourinho pleased with a point

Mario Balotelli"We drew a game that, given the circumstances, we could have lost,"

Inter Milan manager Jose Mourinho said he was happy with a point following his side’s 1-1 draw in Russia against Rubin Kazan.

It was the Serie A side’s second consecutive draw in Europe this season after a goalless encounter with Barcelona at the San Siro earlier this month.

Alejandro Dominguez’s goal put Rubin into the lead early on, but Dejan Stankovic headed home the equaliser from Maicon’s cross 16 minutes later.

Inter striker Mario Balotelli was sent off for a second bookable offence early in the second half, but Mourinho’s men managed to ward off increased pressure from the Russian side to hold on for a point.

“We drew a game that, given the circumstances, we could have lost,” said Mourinho.

“The way the game went, it is a point gained. Obviously we want to qualify as soon as possible, but in the end it seems like a positive result.”

“Now, if we win our two home games against Dynamo Kyiv and Rubin we will have qualifed.”

“Rubin Kazan started the game better, being at home and with the crowd motivating the team. They scored first, but then I saw Inter dominate the rest of the half: creating chances and scoring, and we could scored more.

“In the second half, Maicon, Stankovic and the efforts of the other players were very positive.”

Mourinho also said that he had words with Mario Balotelli following the striker’s dismissal.

“I’ve already spoken to Balotelli in the dressing room and I’ve already told him what I needed to say.”
