Fulham manager Roy Hodgson is facing the prospect of being without another key striker for several weeks as Bobby Zamora suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder in the club’s clash with Stoke City last night.

The 28-year-old picked up the injury following a hefty challenge from Stoke’s Abdoulaye Faye. The striker landed heavily on his right hand side and was unable to continue.

Zamora had been in fine form having scored 11 goals so far this season, but it looks as if he will absent from the starting line-up for an extended spell.

Despite a late resurgence, Fulham stuttered to a disappointing 3-2 defeat at the Britannia Stadium in a night Hodgson will be keen to forget. A disappointing result coupled with the loss of Zamora and influential centre back Brede Hangeland, who was also substituted with a re-occurrence of a knee injury.

Fulham’s well respected manager aptly described the night as ‘very expensive’ for the Cottagers.

He added: “In the second half, we showed we are a good football team, but unfortunately there aren’t many teams that come back from three down in 45 minutes.”

“We certainly gave it a good shot and I’m pleased we can take some credit from the game.”
