Jose Mourinho might not yet officially be manager of Real Madrid but he is already plotting the end of Barcelona’s dominance of La Liga.

The Portuguese, speaking to Madrid-based sports newspaper AS, also hinted at potential moves for Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard.

The two-time Champions League winner also reassured Real fans concerned by his sometimes conservative brand of football that he will encourage an offensive style.

“My Madrid will always play well, attack and will be winners,” said Mourinho.

“However, there will be times when we will have to face the game in a different manner.

“We will be a side with its own identity, we will not imitate anybody. The identity will be set by the players and me. For this we will have to work very hard.”

Mourinho spoke of his preference for having experienced players in his squad and also on his fondness for attacking full backs.

World Cup-bound Lampard, 31, Gerrard, 29, and Cole, 29 as well as Brazil right-back Maicon were identified as fitting ‘the special one’s’ bill.

“Normally I play with four at the back, with two offensive full-backs like Cole and Maicon, then a triangle in midfield and three forwards.”

“I like players at the end of their careers. I love to have some players around 33 or 34-years-old,” Mourinho added.

“They are players that you buy which you cannot recoup the money from, but if you get two or three years out of them it is worth it. Both Lampard and Gerrard are two great players and always give everything.”
