Futuristic Football: Ronaldo & co. compete for A:3K crown

Six days after the conclusion of the World Cup, football fans worldwide will be treated to an event like no other.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Cesc Fàbregas, Wayne Rooney, Didier Drogba, David Villa and Steven Gerrard will go head-to-head in A:3K Football at the O2 in London.

“It’s something you’ve never seen before,” says David Piper, a director of A:3K Football. “It’s a completely new football format where football meets entertainment.”

The six contenders will compete for the A:3K title on a futuristic black Astroturf ‘gladiatorial arena’ with only one of the stars crowned as champion.

“There will be music and lighting,” explains Terry Byrne, also a director of the event. “The football kits won’t look like football kits, the ball won’t look like a traditional football.”

“It’s evolved from football firstly, but then ‘how do you convert into entertainment?'”

The event will take place at the O2 in London on 17th July 2010. Fans wanting to be there can get their hands on tickets here.
