Lance Armstrong has confirmed that the upcoming Tour de France will be his last.

On his Twitter page, the seven time winner declared this would be his final ride.

“And yes, this will be final Tour de France. It’s been a great ride. Looking forward to 3 great weeks.”

The popular cyclist last won the Tour in 2005 and got back on the bike once again in 2009 coming third.

His preparations for this year’s event have been subject to much criticism amid fresh allegations of performance enhancing drug use from disgraced 2006 Tour winner Floyd Landis.

The race begins in Rotterdam on July 3.
