With exactly two years to go until London 2012, sports fans gathered in Trafalgar Square to witness the beginning of the capital’s official Olympic countdown.

Capital FM’s Johnny Vaughan and Lisa Snowdon hosted proceedings in front of Panasonic’s 60-square-metre television screen as crowds were encouraged to participate in a number of special events.

Ping London, who have set up over 100 table tennis tables all over the capital for anyone to play on free-of-charge, encouraged the masses to pick up a bat and have a hit right outside the National Gallery.

There was also the chance for sports fans to watch past Olympics footage in 3D courtesy of 2012 sponsors Panasonic.

The opening ceremony of the biggest sporting event is exactly two years away and fans told The Sport Review what hosting the Games means to them.
