Mohammad Yousuf could come out of retirement to bolster Pakistan’s faltering middle order.

The 88 Test veteran has said he is ready to make his international return if the Pakistani Cricket Board asks him to join the side in England.

Yousuf retired from international cricket after Pakistan’s disastrous tour of Australia last summer but says he is now is open to offers from the PCB.

“I am available any time for my national team,” said the 35-year-old.

“If the team doesn’t need me I stand retired. But if I’m needed, I am ready and available to serve my country.

“If PCB invites me with respect I will definitely go and join the team.”

Pakistan lost their opening test with Australia at Lord’s last week as their batting twice came unstuck against the mediocre Australian bowers, Shane Watson and Marcus North.

And while their bowling attack, featuring the impressive Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif, looked impressive, their middle order batting was woeful.

Yousuf, who has made 7,431 test runs at an average of over 53, would add some much-needed experience to the batting card.

And the former captain added he would be comfortable playing under Salman Butt, who will take over from Shahid Afridi in time for four tests with England later this summer.

“It’s a PCB decision (appointing Butt) and everybody should respect it,” he added.

“I can play under any captain and have never felt degraded playing under anyone.”
