Nationwide Building Society has revealed it is unlikely to renew its sponsorship of the England football team.

Nationwide has sponsored the national side for the last 11 seasons but said that the current deal, which expires at the end of this month, is “unlikely to be renewed.”

“Nationwide’s sponsorship of the England team has been extremely successful over 11 seasons and has significantly raised the profile of our organisation,” a Nationwide spokesman said.

“Our current sponsorship deal ends at the end of July and it is unlikely to be renewed.”

A spokesman for the English FA insisted that negotiations were still ongoing with the firm, who also sponsor the Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland teams.

“The current sponsorship deal between Nationwide and the FA completes at the end of July and at this time discussions remain ongoing,” said an FA spokesman.
