Andy Murray named as fourth seed at US Open
Andy Murray will be seeded fourth at next week’s US Open as he looks to secure his maiden Grand Slam title in New York.
A 2008 finalist at Flushing Meadows, coach-less Murray will be hoping his newly-discovered aggressive style of play can propel him to glory at the final Grand Slam of the year.
World No1 Rafael Nadal is the top seed and five-time champion Roger Federer is seeded second for the US tournament. Reigning champion Juan MartÃÂn del Potro, however, will be unable to defend his first Major after failing to recover from a wrist injury that has plagued his year.
Serb Novak Djkovoic is seeded third and home favourite Andy Roddick has been named as the ninth seed.
The singles draws for the US Open will take place on Thursday after the Women’s seeds are announced on Wednesday.
