Aviva Premiership: Top of the table clash as Saints host Bath

Aviva Premiership leaders Northampton will host second-place Bath in one of a number of mouth-watering encounters this weekend.

Both sides will be looking to continue their unbeaten starts to the season with a victory on Friday night.

Bath will be buoyed by their acquisition of second row forwards Argentina’s Ignacio Fernández Lobbe and USA Eagles captain John van der Giessen. The pair will give the West Country side plenty of options in the engine room as they look to strengthen their already impressive pack

The third round of fixtures also sees bitter rivals Leicester Tigers and London Wasps go head-to-head at Adams Park.

Winless Wasps have not made an ideal start to the season, with their only points coming from an opening weekend draw against London rivals Harlequins before being soundly beaten by Newcastle.

Leicester have made a stuttering start to the season losing their opening fixture to Saints before powering past newly-promoted Exeter.

In the weekend’s other fixtures, Sale host Harlequins in the second of the Friday evening fixtures while Exeter welcome Newcastle to Sandy Park in only their second home game in the Premiership. Bottom side Leeds Carnegie will play host to title chasing Saracens.

Gloucester, who handed Exeter their first ever top flight victory on opening weekend, travel to Reading to face London Irish at the Madejski.

Exeter Chiefs v Newcastle Falcons (Sandy Park, 3pm)
London Wasps v Leicester Tigers (Adams Park, 3.05pm)

Sunday 19 September
Leeds Carnegie v Saracens (Headingley Carnegie, 3pm)
London Irish v Gloucester Rugby (Madejski Stadium, 3pm)
