Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has admitted his future is in doubt following a poor start to his tenure at Anfield.

The pressure on Hodgson has again been increased after a poor result at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday where the Reds succumbed to their fifth league defeat of the season.

The former Fulham boss, who arrived on Merseyside from London just over four months ago, admits his future is out of his hands and says it will be up to new owners New England Sports Ventures to decide who the right person is to take the club forward.

“There is nothing I can do about it,” he said. “I can only continue to do the best job I can under these circumstances, and if the club decide they want to give the job to somebody else then I’ll have to accept it.”

Hodgson also spoke further on supporters’ chants for club legend Kenny Dalglish to take the helm at Anfield.

“The fans can chant for whoever they want and it will be up to the club to decide what they want to do,” the Reds boss added.

“I can’t get upset every time the fans chant someone’s name. Fans make their frustrations felt every time we lose a game – but unfortunately they may have to do that a few more times this season, because I can’t see us winning every game.”
