Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson once again finds himself under pressure after his side were deservedly beaten 2-0 at Stoke on Saturday.

Liverpool had produced a number of good results in recent weeks, with wins against Blackburn, Bolton and Chelsea significantly improving the Reds’ position in the table.

But after two uninspiring performances against Wigan and Stoke, which ended in a draw and a defeat respectively, Liverpool supporters voiced their discontent at the former Fulham boss by chanting the name of Reds legend Kenny Dalglish after the final whistle at the Britannia.

Speaking about the chants, Hodgson said: “That seems to be part of the life as Liverpool football manager. We’re trying do the best job we can in the circumstances but I don’t think that that singing helps.

“But I didn’t hear it and I am sure there are lots of fans who sympathise with us and what we are trying to do.”

Meanwhile, former Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink has revealed he was approached by Liverpool and Manchester City in the summer with both clubs interested in making the Dutchman their new manager.

“In the summer City and Liverpool both came to me with an inquiry,” said Hiddink. “But at my age I don’t want to manage a club again for seven days a week over three years.”
