Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is convinced that the Blues will retain their Premier League title if they continue to play as they did at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

The 32-year-old Chelsea midfielder made the bold claim in the wake of his side’s 1-1 draw against Tottenham, where he made his first appearance for the Londoners since being sidelined in August.

“If we play with the spirit we played, I have no doubt we’ll win the league, because we’ve got the quality in our team,” said Lampard.

Lampard also blamed injuries for the club’s recent slump in form after having squandered their five-point lead at the top of the table to now sit three points behind pace-setters Manchester United.

Captain John Terry and midfielder Michael Essien recently returned to first team action and Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti gave Lampard a run-out for the final 12 minutes at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

“Injuries have been tough on us, certain moments have been tough on us,” said the England international. “But with the spirit and ability we’ve got in our team, if we play like that, I’ve got all confidence that we can do it.”
