Picture special: Del Potro, Roddick in action at Queen’s
Juan MartÃÂn del Potro, Andy Roddick, and Fernando Verdasco were all in action on day two of the Aegon Championships at Queen's Club in London
Back in the frame: Former US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro, who missed most of 2010 with a serious wrist injury, opened with a 6-4 6-2 win over Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan.
No hiding place: Istomin, the world No61, was beaten by Del Potro in one hour and 23 minutes on Centre Court.
Injury concern: Del Potro called for the trainer after falling awkwardly mid-way through the second set, but was able to see out the match.
Right at home: Four-time champion Andy Roddick began his quest for a fifth title with a battling 7-6 (7-2) 6-7 (5-7) 6-4 win over Spain’s Feliciano López.
Serve-volleyer: López, twice a Wimbledon quarter-finalist, was unable to prevent Roddick from winning his first match of the year on grass.
Happy to be back: Roddick, 28, revealed his delight at being back in London after the match, calling Queen’s one of his “favourite tournaments in world”.
Cruise control: Eighth seed Fernando Verdasco breezed through to the third round with a 6-2 6-3 win over France’s Nicolas Mahut.
All change: The grass-court season got under way at Queen’s Club just hours after the French Open final on Sunday.
