City boss describes his side as one of the best around as they prepare to make their Champions League bow

Roberto Mancini has declared that Manchester City are now one of the best teams in Europe as he prepares his side for the club’s Champions League bow against Napoli on Wednesday.

City are currently joint-top of the Premier League with defending champions Manchester United, having won their first four league games.

And as the Italian manager gets ready to welcome the Serie A side to the Etihad Stadium, Mancini talked up his side’s chances in Europe’s elite club competition, but stressed that their target is to qualify for the last 16.

“I think it is normal for us because Manchester City is one of the best teams in England and Europe I hope,” said Mancini.

“For us it will be very important to do very well our job in this group and our target is to go into the second stage.”

And when asked if he felt there is extra pressure on his side, Mancini replied: “No I don’t think this. Like I said before it will be a very important day, but it is always a football match. A difficult game, probably, but’s it’s a football match.

“We have players with a lot of experience, a lot of our players have played in the Champions League I don’t think we have pressure for this game.”
