The Holland international hit a sublime hat-trick to add to Andre Santos’ and Theo Walcott’s second-half strikes as the Gunners ran riot in a pulsating clash in west London.
And the Arsenal manager, whose side have now won eight of their last nine games in all competitions, claims Van Persie is “on fire” after having already netted 12 goals this term.
“He is, of course, on fire and he takes advantage through his class,” said Wenger. “We attack a lot and we create chances overall of course.
“The intelligence of his movement around the box and the accuracy of his finishing is exceptional.”
Wenger also reserved praise for Laurent Koscielny, who impressed in defence for the Gunners at Stamford Bridge.
“I think he was outstanding,” he continued. “He was the one at the back in the first half who looked strong.
“But I felt in the first half we gave them too much room at the back and in midfield and in the second half we got much tighter. We kept being dangerous going forward but we were less in trouble defensively.”
And of Arsenal’s improved form, Wenger added: “We are more consistent now and we have to keep that going now. Tuesday night [against Marseille] will be another test where we will have to focus and produce that quality again, that’s what is at stake.”
