Euro 2012 qualifiers: England will play for the victory – Capello
England manager Fabio Capello insists his team will won't settle for a draw against Montenegro
Fabio Capello wants England to aim for a victory against Montenegro, despite needing just a point to qualify for Euro 2012 on Friday in Podgorica.
The Italian wants his team to continue their scintillating away form following eye-catching performances against Bulgaria, Switzerland and Wales earlier in the group stages and claim three points to seal their qualification in style.
“I’ve told them they need to play to win the game,” said Capello. “They need to play with the same style they have played away from home, and don’t think about a draw.”
The England boss says he won’t use the qualifier as an opportunity to blood new talent, insisting his intention will be to select a team good enough to beat Montenegro.
“This will be a tough game, he said. “They will play to win.
“I know the spirit of their team, and we will need to be really competitive. When it comes to seeing players for the future, we have got time. The friendly games will be really interesting to see [people].”
