Arsène Wenger convinced Arsenal have turned the corner
Arsène Wenger believes Arsenal have responded well after a terrible start to the Premier League season
Arsenal have finally recovered from a difficult start to the season following a summer of high profile departures, according to Arsène Wenger.
The loss of Cesc FÃ bregas and Samir Nasri late in the transfer window left the club in a precarious position, with injuries and the adjustment of the team to new arrivals adding to Wenger’s problems.
But the Frenchman believes Arsenal have now finally turned the corner and are ready to piece together a run of good results.
“Maybe we are better in October and November now because we had a bad start,” Wenger said.
“Basically we had many players out at the start of the season and we bought very late at the end of August. We just grabbed the momentum recently.”
With renewed confidence in his squad, Wenger feels they can continue to improve if they remain professional and focused.
“Our last game [against West Bromwich Albion] was a win so I believe we have the confidence from a good run,” he said.
“After that it is down to being professional. A professional is capable of focusing on his targets and that is where we can show that. We need to focus again very quickly on our run.”
Their return to form has resulted in the Gunners climbing up the Premier League table and they are now level with Liverpool on 19 points, just three points off a Champions League position.
And Wenger is confident his side will get even stronger as the season goes on. “I think the team is getting stronger from game to game so overall I expect that momentum to keep going and for us to go from strength to strength. Maybe we are on a stronger run because we started later.”
