Manchester City will take on Liverpool for a place in the Carling Cup final after Wednesday’s semi-final draw paired the two Premier League sides together.

Kenny Dalglish’s men booked their place in the last four with a 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, while City sealed their spot thanks to their 1-0 win at Arsenal.

The draw ensures there will be a Championship team in the final of this year’s competition as Crystal Palace, who stunned Manchester United to claim a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, will take on Cardiff, who dumped Steve Kean’s Blackburn Rovers out the night before.

The semi-finals take place in January over two legs, with City and Palace at home for the first legs.
