Jack Rodwell and Daniel Sturridge get England call-ups
Fabio Capello names his 25-man England squad for the forthcoming friendlies against Spain and Sweden
Jack Rodwell and Daniel Sturridge have both been given their first senior England call-ups for the forthcoming friendlies against Spain and Sweden.
Fabio Capello has also included captain John Terry in his 25-man squad, despite the ongoing investigation into allegations he racially abused Anton Ferdinand during Chelsea’s defeat by QPR last month.
Wayne Rooney, who is expected to find out this week if The FA’s appeal against Uefa’s three-game ban has been successful, is not included.
Rodwell and Sturridge join former England Under-21 team-mates Joe Hart, Phill Jones, Kyle Walker, Adam Johnson, James Milner, Theo Walcott, Gabriel Agbonlahor and Danny Welbeck in the national squad.
England take on world champions Spain at Wembley on Saturday, before hosting Sweden on Tuesday.
