Man United’s Wayne Rooney shortlisted for goal of the year
Manchester United forward nominated for award for his overhead kick against Manchester City in February

Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney has been shortlisted for Fifa’s 2011 goal of the year award for his strike against Manchester City last season.
The England international hit a spectacular overhead kick in United’s 2-1 win over their derby rivals in February at Old Trafford.
Rooney joins the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the 10-strong shortlist, with the winner set to be announced at the Fifa Ballon d’Or gala in Zurich on 9 January.
Fans can vote for their favourite goal on Fifa.com until 5 December, at which point the three candidates with the most votes will be revealed. Users can then vote for the winner up until 9 January.
