Arsenal can beat Manchester City, insists Wojciech Szczesny
Wojciech Szczesny is backing Arsenal to continue their impressive run of form in the league and claim three points at Eastlands
Wojciech Szczesny admits Manchester City will be the favourites going into Sunday’s clash with Arsenal – but the Gunners goalkeeper is convinced the Londoners can beat the Premier League leaders at Eastlands.
Arsène Wenger’s men clinched a 1-0 victory over Everton on Saturday as Arsenal continued their run of impressive results in the league, having now claimed 22 points from the last 24 available.
And the 21-year-old Arsenal shot-stopper is hopeful the Gunners can continue their good form and produce a repeat of last season’s 3-0 win at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
“It is very important that we keep going now,” Szczesny told Arsenal Player. “We believe that we can win every game.
“We have a massive game against Manchester City coming up. They will be favourites this time but we are confident we can go there and get the three points.
“It is probably the toughest game of the season but people were saying that last year and we won 3-0. We hope to repeat the performance and hopefully the result as well.”
A sublime Robin van Persie volley gave Arsenal three points against a battling Everton side on Saturday at Emirates Stadium and Szczesny was thrilled by the Gunners’ resilience during a difficult game in north London.
“We said in the dressing room that it is good to win ugly every now and then,” Szczesny continued. “We did not create a lot of chances and missed a couple in the first half. But we stuck together and got the all-important winning goal.
“It is vital to win these kinds of games – especially in December when there are a lot of matches and it is easy to drop points.”
