Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger open to signing a forward in January
Arsène Wenger insists he has the funds available should he want to bring in reinforcements in the January transfer window

Arsène Wenger has refused to rule out the possibility of bolstering Arsenal’s attacking options in the January transfer window.
The Gunners are set to lose Marouane Chamakh and Gervinho towards the end of January as the duo switch continents to represent their national sides at the Africa Cup of Nations – and the Frenchman insists that funds are available to him should he want to bring in some cover in the new year.
“We lose players like Chamakh and Gervinho to the Africa Cup of Nations, so hopefully touch wood we do not get any injuries to our strikers,” Wenger told Arsenal’s website. “But if an opportunity turns up in that department then we will buy.
“The situation, I must say, is a bit special. Economically the whole environment has changed and people suffer more. The clubs will suffer more financially and it’s much more difficult. Maybe we will have some opportunities because we are in a good financial situation.”
