Man United boss Sir Alex Ferguson wary of Tottenham title threat
Manchester United manager claims Tottenham are playing "the best football in the country" and are challenging for the title

Sir Alex Ferguson believes Tottenham are “playing the best football in the country” and are fully capable of winning the Premier League title this season.
Harry Redknapp’s Spurs currently trail Manchester United and Manchester City by seven points, with the Londoners having played a game less than the joint leaders.
And United boss Ferguson says that third-placed Tottenham’s title bid should be taken seriously. “Tottenham can definitely win it,” he said.
“They play the best football in the country and their current form is the best in the country.”
Meanwhile, Ferguson has called on his players to take the momentum from their recent run of excellent from into their clash against Blackburn at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The Red Devils have won their last five top flight games, scoring 17 goals and conceding just twice.
“We have plenty of options in attack and I’m pleased with the form,” he continued. “Hopefully we can keep the momentum going. The form is good and the players are enjoying themselves too.”
He added: “It’s only the end of December. We surrendered a 12-point lead to Arsenal some years ago and won the title despite being 12 points behind Newcastle.”
The United boss also confirmed that the club is planning to offer Dimitar Berbatov a new contract at Old Trafford. The Bulgarian’s current deal expires at the end of next season, and Ferguson said: “We’ll be exercising [the option to renew]. I think it kicks in in March.”
