Facing AC Milan will be emotional, admits PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti
Newly-appointed Paris Saint-Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti is set to face AC Milan for the first time since leaving the San Siro
Carlo Ancelotti admits that facing AC Milan will be an emotional experience as Paris Saint-Germain prepare to take on the Serie A leaders in a friendly on Wednesday.
The newly-appointed PSG manager will meet his former employers for the first time since leaving the San Siro in an exhibition match in Doha as he asses his new squad ahead of their Coupe de France game against Locminé on Sunday.
“It is a little bit strange and I will be excited, of course, as I have good memories from my time at Milan,” Ancelotti said.
“I know a lot of the staff and players and it will be a good game, I’m sure. For me, it’s very important because then I can understand better the quality of the players, get to know them better, and this is important for us to improve.”
Meanwhile, Clarence Seedorf, brought to Milan by Ancelotti in 2002, has backed his former manager to succeed in France – though the Dutch midfielder admitted the Italian could face a difficult task in winning over the PSG supporters following the dismissal of his predecessor Antoine Kombouare.
“What you get with Ancelotti is guaranteed,” Seedorf said. “He has shown his worth over the years, and I hope he is received well because it is difficult to enter a new environment when there is already some polemics about the previous coach who was doing great and had taken them top of the table.
“I hope he does not suffer from that and I am sure he will do great.”
