Cesc Fàbregas is targeting Champions League success with Barcelona as the midfielder looks to banish memories of Arsenal’s defeat in the final nearly six years ago.

The 24-year-old sealed a return to the Catalan side in the summer, completing a £29m from the Emirates to Camp Nou – and the Spain international has already made an instant impact with 10 goals for the reigning La Liga champions.

And as the former Gunners captain sets his sights on a potential treble haul, he admits the Champions League remains a personal priority after going through the pain of losing in the final to his current employers in 2006.

“In 2012 I wish for a healthy year and winning many titles and having success with Barcelona,” Fàbregas told El Mundo Deportivo.

“I dream of winning the treble but if I have to choose, in order, I would prefer to win the Champions League and La Liga titles. The most desired title is the Champions League because it is the biggest competition.

“This gives me a special thrill, firstly because I came so close to winning it about five years ago [with Arsenal] and then I believe it is the most valued title amongst the players.

“I learned a lot from that final in Paris. Although we were close to winning, losing in front of Ronaldinho, Eto’o, Puyol meant in the end we felt proud.”
