Martin Jol: I’d put my money on Tottenham Hotspur to win the title

Fulham manager Martin Jol insists his former club Tottenham Hotspur will challenge for the title in the second half of the season

Martin Jol has backed his former club Tottenham Hotspur to mount a serious Premier League title challenge in the second half of the season.

Spurs are currently third in the table, level on points with Manchester United and three behind leaders Manchester City.

And Fulham boss Jol is convinced Harry Redknapp’s men should be considered serious title contenders this term.

“Away from home they’re very strong,” said Jol. “But the thing is that you can’t drop points – you have to be there all the time.

“If you look at Manchester City, they are probably everybody’s favourite. They are out of the cups and they want to go for the title so that is a pretty good situation for them.

“But I would put my money on Spurs, to be honest. I think they are candidates for the title.”
