Samba Diakite is a good addition for QPR, says Mark Hughes
Mark Hughes was pleased to secure the signature of Samba Diakite from Ligue 1 side Nancy amid interest from other clubs
Mark Hughes is convinced the loan signing of Samba Diakite from Nancy will give Queens Park Rangers a boost in their bid for Premier League survival.
The Mali midfielder has penned a deal at Loftus Road until the end of the season, when QPR will have the option to make the transfer permanent.
“Samba is a young player who has made an impression on French football,” said Hughes.
“There has been a lot of interest in him from top clubs in France so we have done really well to get him in.
“He is a good age, has got strength, power, can carry the ball and can score goals from midfield on occasions.
“He will give us more physical presence athleticism in the middle of the park so he is going to be a good addition.”
Diakite is currently on international duty with Mali at the Africa Cup of Nations but the 23-year-old, who has made 15 appearances for Nancy in Ligue 1 this season, is looking forward to making his Premier League debut with QPR.
“It is a dream to join a Premier League club,” the midfielder said. “The board and the manager have big ambitions to achieve and I am delighted to join a club with such goals.
“I have always enjoyed watching English football and I can’t wait to return from the African Cup of Nations and give my all for the club.
“It is a very exciting move for me.”
