Tottenham Hotspur ‘extremely unlikely’ to recruit in January
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says it is highly unlikely he will sign any players during the January transfer window
Harry Redknapp admits it is “extremely unlikely” that Tottenham Hotspur will bring in any new faces during the January transfer window.
Redknapp, whose side begin 2012 in third place in the Premier League after a blistering start to the season, insists he is happy with the players currently at his disposal at White Hart Lane.
“It’s extremely unlikely we will be doing any business in this window,” Redknapp told the Sunday Mirror. “Unless someone very special came on the market, someone that could improve the team, I’ll stick with what I have.
“We have a very strong squad and cover for virtually every position. It’s hard to see where we can improve.”
The Tottenham boss also moved to rubbish speculation linking playmaker Luka Modrić with a move away from north London in January, with Chelsea still being touted as a possible destination for the 26-year-old.
He continued: “You hang around listening to rubbish about this player and that player leaving. I mean, we are hardly likely to weaken our squad by selling some of our best players, are we?
“If it’s not Luka Modric going, it’s Gareth Bale or someone else. We are not in the market to sell players and speculation is unhelpful and disruptive.
“And then you are linked to 100 players you have never heard of, let alone have any intention of buying.”
