West Brom boss Roy Hodgson believes Tottenham Hotspur are "serious contenders" for this season's Premier League title
Roy Hodgson is convinced that Tottenham Hotspur are serious Premier League title contenders this season.
Harry Redknapp’s Spurs sealed a narrow 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday courtesy of a Jermaine Defoe strike – and Hodgson believes the Londoners will challenge Manchester City and Manchester United until the end of the season.
“They are serious contenders, they’ve proven that already,” said Hodgson. “There’s no question that there anything other than serious contenders.
“They keep putting pressure on Manchester City and United to win their matches and they’re getting some distance now between themselves and some of the chasing pack.
“They’ve got to be very happy with these first 19 games. They’ve got a game in hand and if they were to win that they’ll have had a fantastic 20 games.
“Then it’ll all be a question of seeing which of the three or four teams that are really in the hunt can have the best last 18 games. It won’t be more complicated than that.
“The quality is there, the depth of squad is there. It’s a well organised team so I wouldn’t bet against them.”
