Also in this edition, discover why you’d be wise to back both teams to find the net when Bolton travel to Chelsea, and how Sergio Aguero can help net you a wad of cash in Manchester City’s clash with Blackburn.
Newcastle United welcomed back Demba Ba from the Africa Cup of Nations three weeks ago, and the Senegal striker made an instant impact by netting against Aston Villa on his return. The 26-year-old has been prolific this season, scoring 16 goals in 21 league appearances to leave him third in the top flight’s goalscoring charts. Ba is a strong contender for signing of the season – he was signed on a free transfer from West Ham in the summer – and 5/6 is great value for him to net at any time against strugglers Wolves at the Sports Direct Arena on Saturday.
Wolves suffered a 5-1 thumping by West Brom in their last league outing, leading to Mick McCarthy’s sacking. And while Newcastle were dealt a 5-0 trouncing by Tottenham Hotspur last time out, Alan Pardew’s side boast an impressive home record – they’ve lost just two of their 12 games league at St James’ Park, winning seven. So, 13/8 for the Magpies to beat Wolves by two goals or more on Saturday is excellent value.
Napoli ruthlessly exposed Chelsea’s defensive weaknesses midweek, with the Italian side easing to a comfortable 3-1 victory. The Blues have only kept two clean sheets at Stamford Bridge in the league under André Villas-Boas, shipping 19 goals in just 12 games. Meanwhile, Bolton have netted four goals in their last four away games, so both teams to score on Saturday in west London is a value bet at 10/11.
Despite Blackburn’s lowly league position – Steve Kean’s side are currently in 17th – they have scored in every away game this season. This includes trips to Anfield, the Emirates and Old Trafford. City, meanwhile, boast a perfect record at the Etihad, but have shown defensive frailties at times, with Norwich City, Newcastle and Wolves all scoring past Joe Hart. While City should seal the win, both sides to score at Eastlands is good value at 10/11.
Sergio Aguero was at his very best against Porto on Wednesday night, masterminding the Europa League holders’ early exit from the competition. The Argentina striker scored after 19 seconds to put City in control and created Edin Dzeko’s goal on Wednesday. Always a threat up front, Aguero already has 15 league goals this season – and the Tipster’s long shot for this edition is for the striker to score first and City to beat Blackburn at a very tempting 11/4.
